Lake San Marcos Executive Course is Short and Sweet
As an executive course, Lake San Marcos Executive Course (LSMExec) is a pitch and putt with a few holes requiring woods off of the tee.

The four par fours on the course also require shots to be placed, rather than merely hit off of the tee. Two of them are doglegs with OB stakes, and though they may be short, a long iron and easy wedge into the green are the necessary shots.
Because of the length of the holes, this is a course where your short game can be honed significantly. The greens at LSMExec are of the 30x20 yard ovals type, without any large slopes, breaks, or other tricks employed by course designers and superintendents to make their course tougher than the rest.
There are only a few bunkers on the course itself, mainly found on the par fours and help to catch errant shots. The greens themselves have little protection, and a drifting shot will find the greenside rough.
One of the few drawbacks of this course is the types of golfers it attracts. The low handicappers and long hitters will probably not find this course to be at all challenging, and in fact may not with to play it at all. This leaves the high-handicappers and the beginners to the game, both which are frustrating to play with or behind.
LSMExec is a type of course that one may wish to play if you have the inescapable sensation of playing some golf somewhere or if you wish to fish out any kinks in your short game. It is only a mere $12 to play, so if you've got some time to waste, get a few friends, play a skins game and enjoy the day.
