The golf scene on the North Coast, which starts above San Francisco, ranges from nice daily fees and private clubs to historic nine-holers. You can combine golf with spas or find golf resorts built next to wineries. Or discover courses like Northwood Golf Club, a nine-hole gem designed by Alistair Mackenzie located in the heart of the Russian River Resort area.
The 400-mile stretch of small communities that makes up the North Coast is also home to many artists, galleries and festivals. Many locales have community theaters as well as music festivals and art exhibits. Of course, no trip to the North Coast is complete without exploring the giant Redwoods. At Redwood national and state parks, you'll find the world's largest trees intertwined with a complex ecosystem of wild coastline, woodlands, meadows and prairies.
Climate on the North Coast is also generally cool, from the mid-40s to the low 60s most times of the year, and there's plenty of precipitation, particularly during winter. So bring a sweater, a camera and your clubs for a different kind of golf vacation.
