TRUCKEE, Calif. -- There's no secret that the golf in this area is stellar, with courses like Old Greenwood, Coyote Moon G.C. and The Golf Club at Gray's Crossing, to name a few.
But not to be overlooked is one of the area's oldest courses, Tahoe Donner Golf Course, a challenging championship test of more than 7,000 yards cut through tall pines.
Originally designed by Joseph B. Williams in 1976, architect Cary Bickler redid the course in 2006 -- and it's never looked better. With tree-lined fairways and a few doglegs, accuracy off the tee is the key to taming Tahoe Donner. A few elevated tees, including the dramatic 18th, add to the experience.
Afterward, be sure to stop by the Lodge Restaurant and Pub for a meal, to watch a game or both.
