River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard
OXNARD, Calif. -- There are two 18-hole championship courses at River Ridge Golf Club. The club's original layout, the Vineyard Course, has a unique layout that is like playing two courses in one. The front nine is a links design that plays through rolling hills while the back nine meanders across mostly flat terrain with water coming into play on every hole. The third through sixth holes play from the highest elevation in Oxnard. They offer unrivaled views of the ocean. The Vineyard Course's signature hole is the par-3 14th, known for its monstrous island green. Without careful strategy, a triple bogey is definitely a possibility on this hole. Designed by Billy Bell Jr., the entire golf course features nearly eight acres of water.
The Victoria Lakes Course at River Ridge G.C., opened in 2008. The 12th through the 14th holes are a formidable set, particularly the par-4 13th. This hole is a double dogleg that not only plays into the wind, it is also flanked by water on both sides. It is arguably one of the most challenging holes in the area.
In addition to the golf courses, River Ridge offers a grass driving range with target greens and bunkers as well as putting and chipping greens.
