The Classic Course at Indian Wells Country Club near Palm Springs
The Classic Course at Indian Wells Country Club was deemed outdated by the PGA Tour because it measures a reasonable 6,478 yards. There's plenty of challenge and wonder still in it for recreational golfers however.
Indian Wells' Classic Course gives you a hole where you're encouraged to shoot over a mountainside on a dogleg turn (No. 5). It has another par 3 where you're shooting right at the mountain (N. 4). Its closing hole packs in the drama with mountain rocks running alongside it and a waterfall up by the green.
This is traditional Palm Springs golf and some of the best of it. Green fees here run for $250 in the peak winter season and just getting on the course requires a stay at the connected resort or the help of a good golf packager.
