Nakoma unveils golf amenities for female guests, residents

GOLD MOUNTAIN, Calif. -- Nakoma Resort & Spa at Gold Mountain home of Nakoma, legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright's monumental 24,000-square-foot original design - has announced the unveiling of additional golf amenities and programs for its women guests and residents.

Already garnering accolades for its woman-golfer-friendliness the resort's Dragon Golf Course was named one of the 100 best courses for women in the U.S. by Golf For Women magazine out of more than 16,000 in the U.S. -- Gold Mountain's latest efforts include: The unveiling of two on-course restrooms for women offering everything from flowers and spa products to curling irons, blow dryers and fine art. Like everything at Gold Mountain, these buildings feature Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired "organic" architecture.

Hosting Pros2Go Golf School programs during two dates in August (19-20 and 26-27). Operated by LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals Susan Briske and Patty Curtiss, the school focuses on golf technique, golf fitness, and golfing perspectives (mental game, Zen techniques, etc).

Gold Mountain is rolling out the red carpet for participants in Pros2Go Golf School, the innovative instructional program that is open to women and men. Participants enjoy access to Gold Mountain's spa and fitness amenities as well as its private dining and lesson areas.

"Nakoma Resort & Spa at Gold Mountain and The Dragon provides our women guests and residents all the finery and special treatment our men guests and residents enjoy," says Gold Mountain Owner Dariel Garner. "Gold Mountain is a spiritual, romantic place men and women enjoy equally, and why so many couples buy homes here."

Some of the existing women-friendly attributes at The Dragon are: 1) an award-winning golf shop Nakoma Trading Post, which offers virtually equal merchandise options for women as men; 2) course-design input from LPGA Hall of Famer Patty Sheehan, who assisted golf course architect Robin Nelson when he designed the forward tees; and, 3) "Dragon Tales", The Dragon's stunning magazine-sized 3-D yardage book, which features hole-by-hole playing descriptions for women, virtually unheard of for these books.

About Nakoma and The Dragon

Nakoma perches magnificently on the hillside that overlooks Gold Mountain. Its five teepee-like spires -- with a central spire soaring some 70 feet -- adds another awe-inspiring presence to the entire complex that is the Nakoma Resort & Spa at Gold Mountain. The Villas of Gold Mountain are located within walking distance of Nakoma, Wright's masterpiece, and the nationally acclaimed Dragon Golf Course. Each of the Villas interiors are original, richly appointed with stone, wood and natural materials in line with Wright's "organic" architecture, as well as captivating touches of art, color and light.

The Dragon features 84 bunkers, 120 feet in elevation changes, and six sets of tees ranging in length from 7,077 to 4,611 yards. It swerves up, down and around the awesome natural features of Gold Mountain. Golfers are often easily distracted during rounds sometimes by the pine- and snow- covered peaks surrounding the majestic course, and others by the abundant flora, fauna and wildlife that call Gold Mountain home.
